Are you calling Mitt Romney a liar?
Newt: "YES." (Mitt's a liar? I'd like to speak to your previous wives Mr. Gingrich).
Bachmann has decided "to stand aside" ...
THANK GOD. Now, why don't you go and adopt some kids or something.
"I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money."
Gotta love him ... bless his pointed head.
I spent my whole life in the private sector, 25 years in the private sector. I understand that when government takes more money out of the hands of people, it makes it more difficult for them to buy things. If they can't buy things, the economy doesn't grow. If the economy doesn't grow, we don't put Americans to work.

ReplyDeleteOne of the sad things is that political candidates have to run campaigns based what they think we want to hear -- connected to our all consuming selves. Even Democrats are increasingly avoiding talking about their classical ideals and causes and appealing to voters on the basis of consumer self principles. When Clinton was running for his second term, experts told him that he could not be re-elected if he campaigned on Democratic ideals like help for the underprivileged, reigning in corporate abuses with regulation, etc. Clinton left out a good part of the Democratic agenda and won (the Labor Party in the UK took notice of this, and did exactly the same thing -- even copying Clinton speeches word for word -- and won too), and while Clinton was president he did the opposite of what Democrats normally did. He eviscerated welfare, passed a symbolic presidential order placing stiff restrictions on affirmative action (I say symbolic because affirmative action was and is already tightly restricted in America), deregulated big business, and allowed corporate tax loop holes big enough to drive mini-van through.
Finally, notice that even Democrats aren't talking about global warming. It's not that it's not real; it's that no cares about it in this economy and Democrats don't want to commit political suicide by talking about it. At least Republicans are consistent on this one. They at least continue to deny global warming or in any case oppose it across almost their entire party. But Democrats believe in global warming but won't talk about it because they're afraid to.
Reason has abandon these lands.
