Yet another right wing wacko weighing on on Japan ...

(This article/text was copied from the Huffington Post. I put it on my blog merely for my visitors for read for themselves. For a better idea of what actually transpired, you can Google Ann Coulter; radiation, and you can see the interview for yourselves. My written observations follow below and all my comments are in italics. I think you will have to agree that she is a certifiable nut job).

Ann Coulter appeared on Thursday's "O'Reilly Factor" (which I don't watch because I have a brain) ... her purpose for the interview was to advance an argument that she made in a column this week: that radiation is "good for you".

There has been a high degree of concern about the levels of radiation being released into the environment due to the crises at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. But, in a column called "A Glowing Report on Radiation," Coulter said that many scientists have been studying the effects of radiation and have found that, as she put it, "at some level--much higher than the minimums set by the U.S. government--radiation is good for you," and actually reduced the risk of cancer. (Uh, isn't this called 'chemotherapy' ... you moron).

She repeated this assertion to a skeptical Bill O'Reilly, who told her that, even if there was scientific discussion going on about the effects of radiation, it was the media's job to be "responsible" and "err on the side of caution" about radiation. (I almost fell over ... Bill O'Reilly said something rational) ... "You have to report the worst-case scenario," he said, adding that there is a clear scientific consensus that "some radiation will kill you." (Some radiation? Like when you go to the dentist they put that heavy metal bib on you and then run into the other room ... like that much radiation?)
Coulter said she disagreed, and said that the scientific consensus has changed, but that the MEDIA ARE NOT REPORTING IT (inferring that the liberal left wing media are involved in a CONSPIRACY against the people by not informing them that radiation doesn't really cause cancer).

So O'Reilly says ... "So by your account we should all be heading towards the nuclear reactor."

This is a woman who earns millions of dollars on T.V. as a political pundit/commentator and author. She spouts her extremist right wing rhetoric that seethes with hatred and vitriol. People ... wake up! These folks (Rush, Glenn, etc.) are all riding the crazy train. As in, they don't have all their marbles. They're not dealing with a full deck and they have influence over millions of people. Pick up a book! Educate yourselves and find out what the facts are. Fact check what you hear and see. Do not let these fools lead you down the road to hell with them. Ann Coulter is a vile human being who blasphemes by calling herself a Christian. Google her on You Tube and watch for yourselves all the horrible, evil things she says about EVERYONE who doesn't think or worship the way she does.

So ... here is my challenge to Ms. Coulter ... I say, since she believes that a radiation is actually GOOD for you, why don't you fly on over to Japan, for humanitarian reasons of course (the one requirement being that you must be a human being, which in her case is questionable) and stand in front of reactor no. 4 to prove your point. If you come back, and you don't develop cancer within the next year or so, IT'S PROOF! You are not human. You are .... A COCKROACH.

It is popularly suggested that cockroaches will inherit the earth if humanity destroys itself in a nuclear war. Cockroaches do indeed have a much higher radiation resistance than us humans, however, they are not exceptionally radiation-resistant compared to other insects, such as Ann Coulter.

Because of their long, persistent association with humans, cockroaches are frequently referred to in art, literature and folk tales. In Western culture, cockroaches are often depicted as vile and dirty pests. Their size, long antennae, shiny appearance and spiny legs make them disgusting to humans ...

Again, it's my blog and I can say what I want to!

  2. Debbie,

    I completely agree with you.

Even if, under certain conditions and periods, prescribed amounts of radiation are proven to combat certain cancers and prolong life, WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY IS SHE WRITING ABOUT IT AND CONNECTING IT TO THE JAPANESE DISASTER WHERE THE WHOLE NATION IS IN MOURNING AND MANY ARE SUFFERING THE LOSS OF LIFE AND HOME ON A SCALE MOST OF US CAN SCARCELY IMAGINE?

Like you, I honestly wonder if Coulter is playing with a full deck. If she is lucid, I don't want to be sane. And if she is Christian, I will happily embrace paganism.

    Your bud,
    Ruben

  3. TOUCHE MY FRIEND. LET MS COULTER, & all pro nuclear power advocates be part of the maintenance and Clean up on the JAPAN reactor MELT DOWN team, who have assuredly sign their death certificates.

    Radioactive Waste
Once the uranium oxide fuel releases most of its energy, it becomes radioactive waste. Nuclear wastes cannot be destroyed and remain radioactive for thousands of years.

    Environmental Effects
OF nuclear power plants, have a negative impact on water resources and the atmosphere. During the uranium mining and processing activities, fossil fuels emit pollutants, such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides, into the atmosphere. In addition, nuclear power plants require large quantities of water for steam production and cooling. Removing water from nearby lakes and rivers disrupts the aquatic ecosystem. These plants also discharge water containing pollutants, such as salts and heavy metals, back into the environment.

  7. I do not mind that people are a bit aggressive around the internet.

I understand I've a tendency to generally be, especially when confronting nonsense like "will boycott tsw because of ea's involvement", which is silly. Whenever you see hundreds of posts like that, your endurance wears thin. I can comprehend it in case you experienced the same point of view about snarky / hostile comments online.

CALIFORNIA ...

SO, recently California passed a law wherein we now have to use our own bags every time we go to the market or CVS or Rite-Aid, or wherever.  If you don't take your own bags you have to purchase one for 10 cents.  So if you buy a shitload of groceries, you're now going to have to pay an extra 40 or 50 or 60 cents on top of that .... to help the environment.  HOWEVER, here's the really smart part.  The bags they sell you are made of .... wait for it .... PLASTIC.  you know ... to help the environment.

If you're smart like I am, you've already purchased plenty of bags with handles made out of something (not plastic) but sturdy and reusable.  I have them in my car.  And every time I go to the market or CVS or Rite-Aid I completely forget to take them into the store with me, ergo, I end up purchasing MORE PLASTIC BAGS.  California.  Why people want to come here I have no idea.

RHOBH ....

Holy Moly Guacamole Batman what the hell happened on RHOBH last night?!  Erika (“Jayne”) Girardi lost her shit!  I mean, she actually SHED TEARS.  Now I gotta say that she is one of my favorite housewives. She’s a straight forward-no bull-shit kinda gal and I like that, but apparently the “panty-gate” situation bothered her much more than she originally let on.

If you recall, a while back at a housewives get-together with the husbands, Erika showed up sans underwear.  As fate would have it, Dorit’s husband P.K. (what the hell kinda name is that?) was seated in direct view of said bare crotch and stared at it all night long (PERV).  If that were my husband his pee-pee would have been severed, filleted and roasting on the patio BBQ.  But I digress.
So this became THEE topic of conversation ALL SEASON.  Well, in order to bring a peace offering of sorts and little levity to the situation, a few weeks later Dorit purchased a pair of sexy, lacy panties for Erika and told her t…
