When I was a little kid, my friend Becky Mendoza invented a game to play while we were riding on the school bus. Whenever we saw a Volkswagen we had to point at it and shout "Beaver!" I'm telling you this because now that I'm working again I'm driving to and from work every day and I am astonished at the number of morons I see texting, dialing and talking on the phone while driving. I see them in front of me ... weaving over the line ... CAUSE THEY'RE LOOKING DOWN AND TEXTING. I see them ahead of me, driving very slow and holding up traffic ... cause THEY'RE LOOKING DOWN AND TEXTING. I see them on the freeway when traffic is bumper to bumper and hardly moving ... LOOKING DOWN AND TEXTING. It's so mind-boggling that I find myself pointing at them and thinking in my head ... YOU STUPID BEAVER! ... So be careful people ... cause they're out there. 
DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE! The life you save MIGHT BE MINE.
HA! Okay, Beaver is a good name....I had something less "nice" in mind though.... I have to admit though, there have been times when I've texted while driving....and my girls get so upset with me so I really try to leave my phone in my purse now when I'm behind the wheel. Seriously, WHY THE DAMN OBSESSION WITH OUR PHONES!?!?! It used to be we would get in the car JUST TO DRIVE....now we get in the car to put on our make up, shave (I've even seen a woman shaving her legs while driving down the Cajon Pass -- yes, HER LEGS), eat, text, talk on the phone....everything except drive safely. I am vowing to pay closer attention to my driving...no more texting, no more fiddling with the radio, just plain old driving. I want to be sure I don't injure anyone while I'm behind the wheel. Thanks for the reminder Debbie! Love ya girl!

ReplyDeleteIn this state of California..it's against the law...what happened to enforcing it and just a few other laws I won't mention. Perhaps we wouldn't be in the negative. I vote for taking pics of people on the phones while driving along with their license plate numbers and turning them in...then maybe,just maybe they'll stop...Ignorant people!!!!!
